...a very long highway
We started our cross country trek at 4am Monday, Dec. 22. It was something ridiculous like -2*F. We were blessed with clear, though cold, weather for almost the entire trip. It was crazy windy in Kansas (I swear the semi in front of us almost tipped over).
We made it to Denver around 6pm. We stayed with my Dad's brother and sister-in-law, which is becoming tradition on our drives across the nation. We also got to introduce Sam to his great-grandmother, my Dad's mom. Nana will be 98 in February and is in amazing health (she says she only feels old from her knees down). She was in the hospital with shortness of breath, but was excited to see Sam, who entertained all of us during our visit.
We left Denver at 10am and made it to Rexburg at 10pm, Dec. 23. We would have been there around 9, but Sam had just about had it with his carseat, so we stopped in Blackfoot and roamed around the Walmart for a while. He was entranced by the blow-up seesaw with Santa & elves going up and down. He stood in the middle of the aisle, clapping and shrieking for five minutes. Truth be told, he would still be there, all smiles, if we hadn't torn him away.

Uncle Steve and Sam taking turns pulling eachother in a homemade box sleigh; Sam enjoying Kansas; Sam enjoying Nana; Andrew enjoying Kansas or Wyoming
