Pop & Grandma Arrive

Andrew's parents took pity on us moving with me prego and came out to help us finish packing, cleaning, loading the truck, driving, unloading the truck, and moving in. That's the official version. I have a sneaky suspicion that this welcome hug was a major factor in the decision.

Sam was so excited for them to come that we had to put a calendar in his room, with the big day marked, so we could show him just how many Sundays until they came. I think that started 4 weeks before. (He actually started asking when they were coming to his house on the drive home from our last trip there.)

We decided to make a pre-trip on our way to pick them up in Kansas City. We went hiking/caving at a spot Andrew went to with the scouts in April (just went looking for that post & couldn't find it...guess I have more catching up to do). It was obnoxiously humid in the forest, but I could have stayed in the cave all day. There was a tangible wall of cool air as you approached the cave. Heaven. We camped out that night. Not heaven. Sam was so excited about going to the airport in the morning, Grandma & Pop coming, and his little tent, that he was literally bouncing off the walls. It was hot and sticky and our air mattress valve wasn't closed all the way. But it was still a great memory. Sam loved it. Andrew loves it. I loved the cool shower in the morning and the feeling of actually being dry and cool for a while. And being with my boys and seeing the smiles stretch across their faces.

In the morning we drove to the airport, which for Sam was enough in itself. Nevermind getting Pop & Grandma! Then we went on a train ride!

Andrew has taught Sam to raise his arms & "Woo-hoo" when we go over bridges
...and through tunnels.

Then we went to Cabella's and saw the animals and tested out the party cruiser boats.
Sam chose which animals he wanted the pictures with...

And we got to eat at restaurants, which Sam now loves. And he got treats, so many wonderful treats. (Ok, we all got treats--thanks Pop & Grandma!)

And Pop & Grandma came home with us. I think it was just about perfect for our little guy.

Cabellas is one of our very favorite places for a free day out. Cute pictures.

So fun. Love the pics. Thanks for posting, you're my favorite sister. But don't tell Cait, she'll be jealous! hehe. ;)
